The ocean's soothing waves and the soft texture of sand are essential elements for beach inspired vacations. Those travelers in tune with the ocean, its inhabitants and sun's warm rays, all head for the tropics.

Panama is found in a southern latitude, where the atmosphere is warm and friendly and the sun and surf is paradise. The warm daytime temperatures and breezy nights are perfect for enjoying a variety of activities. Kayak out over the waves in search of adventure or trek along a tropical beach.

For years, Central and South American travelers have visited Panama for its numerous beaches and glinting archipelago. The coastal areas have established a strong reputation for providing fun-filled days and nights in sultry surroundings.

Beaches
Panamanian beaches are idyllic in their beauty. This tropical country has 900 miles of coastline and a year-round climate that cannot be beat. Tropical flora and fauna abound so never venture far without your camera in hand. Photographic opportunities are plentiful especially around dawn and sunset. The sun rises on the Pacific side and sets on the Caribbean. Knowing this, you can be prepared to capture some truly spectacular sky shows.

Beach activities include sea kayaking, snorkeling, paddle boats, and, of course, the ever popular, sunbathing. For those with a penchant for lying back with a chilled drink in hand, chair and umbrella rentals are numerous.

If you're looking for organized beaches, head for the Pacific side. The beaches here are abundant and have become a well spring for businesses catering to the beach crowd. Aside from eateries and discos, you'll find that there are accommodations for every budget. Check out Kobbe, Veracruz, El Palmar and Naos. In the area of Cocle, you can spend a few hours on Farallon.

For the more laid-back crowd, try the Caribbean side. Water enthusiasts and beachcombers alike will delight in the area. Not only are the residents friendly and hospitable, but the atmosphere is truly Caribbean. Off the coast, you'll find several islands, which are inhabited by the indigenous Kuna. These friendly residents will happy to sit and chat with you while showing off their crafts.
