(Eletaria Cardamomum)

Popularly well-known as the Queen of the Spices, it is eminently a tropical plant originating in India and Sri-Lanka. The first samples of this aromatic and medicinal spice are from IV century.

In Guatemala, Cardamom was first introduced at the begining of the 20th century and its cultivation has increased rapidly, becoming in 1978-79, the main exporter world-wide. Currently, Guatemala produces 5,000 metric tons of Cardamom per year.

The cardamom poods and seeds contain aproximately, 20% of water, 10% of protein, 2% fat, 42% of carbohydrates, 20% fiber and 6% ash. The seeds' aroma and properties have a volatile oil content between 3.5% and 7%.

American Spice Corp, S.A. exports cardamom in several presentations, duly hand picked and classified, that meets the international quality guidelines of decorticated world-wide.

PACKAGING AND LABELLING: The green cardamom seed are packed in black polyethylene 5 Kgs bags, and each bag contains a 5 Kg box. There are 8 boxes in one 40 Kgs master cardboard. The decorticated cardamom seed are packed in polyethylene bag inside of a 50 Kgs polypropylene bag.
