Farm Tour

"Hacienda Tijax", the name we chose for our farm/jungle lodge is composed of two words: Hacienda and Tijax.  The first is from the Spanish language and it means, "place where things are done" from the verb hacer which means to do.  This word is used to describe land holdings where some product is processed and sold afterwards.  So since we produce rubber and cattle "hacienda" seemed like a good word to describe us, we also stay very busy most of the time.

Scenery from the farm is great!
Our open door!

Hacienda Tijax is a project with many long-term goals.  Our intention is to find alternatives to traditional farming methods, while maintaining an "open door" for those who wish to experience the beauty of Rio Dulce.  We encourage the exchange of ideas and hope our guests will take an active interest in the "behind the scenes" at the farm, as well as enjoy this incredible area we call our home.
