Here is the latest news about Tijax: We at Hacienda Tijax are proud to announce that 1999 is our 10th year anniversary. During the decade we have been catering to travelers in the Rio Dulce (Guatemala) as a pioneer Eco-tourist operation. Over time we learned many lessons and developed a personality all our own, making Tijax a really unique destination preferred by the smart traveler. During the last two years we have made a special effort, thanks to some successful business operations, to invest and then expand and/or improve many of our services. 1) Road access with a campground for vehicles and tents at the entrance with electricity, toilets and showers available. 2) Eight more cabanas with accommodations for singles, doubles or triples and a new battery of toilets and hot showers. 3) Laundry facilities with washer and drier. 4) Phone and e-mail. 5)A spring fed pool for bathing and mud baths on the farm. 6) New kitchen and restaurant facilities with full bar service. 7) Improved services on the dock at the Marina (110-220 electrical and water) 8) Increased water supply from the town as well as out own spring water piped to the lodge/marina area. 9) New office area with computer and cash register for better management and communications. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all those that have helped make this dream come true amongst our customers, friends and family: Thank you all, in your hearts you know who you are! A big thank you is in order for those who expressed concern over our well being after the hurricane Mitch. We are happy to report that the damages were similar to previous floods we have had, that only our electric outlets were damaged on the dock and all is repaired now. |
