ZOLIC'S facilities are located next to Santo Tomas de Castilla's Port installations. A first class Port, Santo Tomas de Castilla's infrastructure can download any kind of merchandises, either from containers, in bulk or conventional load. Actually a high percentage of the cargo enters through this port.
ZOLIC is located in the City of Puerto Barrios, that has a basic infrastructure for a small city (telephone, electricity, hospitals, hotels, restaurants, airport, etc.), which contributes to an easy operation of any kind of economic activity developed in this industrial and commercial park.
The City of Puerto Barrios lies 300 kilometers away from Guatemala City (paved road) and 410 kilometers (7 hours in truck) from Quetzal Harbuor. This strategic position allows the costumer to ship products on both coasts of Central America continent.
According with ZOLIC's law, all business located in this Free Trade Zone are exempted from payment of duties, contributions and other fiscal/municipal taxes created or to be crated, for all merchandises, equipments, machinery, accessories and another goods that are destinated for operation of the business inside the Free Trade Zone.
Additionally, all the business that settle and operate in the Free Trade Zone will be free of the payment of the income Tax for the first twelve years. Foreigners, either individuals or body corporates, do not get benefit of this exception, if they are subject to the same taxes on their land of origin and if the legislation of their country allows them to deduct taxes paid in Guatemala from the taxes they must pay there.
